Abel Arango is an Assistant Professor of Spanish in the department of World Languages and Literatures at Skidmore College. He specializes in teaching Spanish for Heritage Speakers and Spanish for the Professions. 

As a Latinx scholar, his research examines U.S. Central American cultural production in relation to gender and citizenship. Currently, he is working on an article manuscript that explores the relationship between mourning and citizenship in the poetry of undocumented, Central American youth. 

His work appears in journals, such as Latino Studies and Arizona Journal of Hispanic Cultural Studies. The courses he teaches at Skidmore College include WLS 103, WLS 221Spanish for Heritage Speakers, and WLS 351 Spanish for Business.
