DOCLab Productions encompases the projects that require a deeper level of support from the DOCLab team, where skilled students and staff collaborate with on-campus and off-campus partners to develop public-facing, professional work for display on campus and off. VIDEO
- Women Make Media (Faculty Collaborator: Liz Miller, Concordia University, Montreal, Québec): DOCLab Director Jesse O'Connell and Concordia Faculty member and '21 Storytellers' Fellow initiated a collaborative partnership between their students and the (IAWRT). Students from Skidmore and Concordia conducted cross-continental, intergenerational interviews over Zoom in order to highlight some of the incredible women that are part of this organization. The long-form interviews will become part of an oral history archive while shorter version edited by the students will be featured during the 70th Anniversary celebrations of IAWRT coming up in 2023.
- (Faculty Collaborator: Monica Raveret Richter): DOCLab Assistant Sanjna Selva '21 filmed and edited a short video on Prof. Raveret Richter's bee study on sweetness. The video was featured in the exhibit at the Tang Teaching Museum in Fall 2018.
- (Faculty Collaborator: Sarah DiPasquale): DOCLab Assistants have been supporting this dance and movement project for a number of semester acting as the video production crew, producing high-quality videos choreographed and designed by Prof. Sarah DiPasquale and her students. These videos are featured in the PBS Learning Media Library and are available as a resource to elementary educators across the nation.
AUDIO
- : DOCLab Staff have been supporting the ongoing work of the Skidmore Retiree group conducting interviews with retirees who worked at the college in the second half of the 20th Century. Over the years staff have helped with a number of facets of this project from recording interviews, to providing audio recording training, to updating the Omeka-based Archive, to cataloguing and organizing metadata as part of the digital archiving process.
- (Faculty Collaborator: Tillman Nechtman): DOCLab Staff supported Prof. Nechtman's students that were collecting stories of the Skidmore Nursing Program alumni by providing audio recording training as well as Omeka training.
Exhibit
- Bernstein Timeline (Faculty Collaborator: Sarah Day-O'Connell): DOCLab Director Jesse O'Connell and Finley Martin '19, collaborated with Prof. Day-O'Connell's course researching the life of Leonard Bernstein as part of the worldwide celebration of the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein (events hosted at Zankel). Jesse and Finley contributed support in conceptualizing the layout of the large horizontal piece as well as created the design to be displayed in the Zankel Music Center lobby.
- (Faculty Collaborator: AJ Schneller): DOCLab Co-Directors Adam Tinkle and Jesse O'Connell supported this Project HAL (Humanities Action Lab) collaborative project led by Prof. Schneller's ESS course, providing video production support during project development; helping with the installation; and coordinating the exhibit opening at the Albany Barn.
