Linda Simon, professor emerita of English, spoke on the life, work and mission of William James Jan. 28 at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology, which is in the process of changing its name to William James College. School officials note that James is known in the U.S. as the founder of American psychology. Simon’s talk covered James’s early life and road to a career in psychology and how he shaped the field.

David Cohen, assistant professor, Department of Management and Business, was a source for “Mall eyes steps to bounce back,” published Feb. 1 in The Sunday Gazette.

David Kieran, visiting assistant professor of history, and Jennifer Mueller, assistant professor of sociology, were sources for “Civil rights & wrongs,” about the debate over the accuracy of the film Selma, published Feb. 1 in The Sunday Gazette.

Michael Lopez, assistant professor of mathematics, was featured in several news stories in the run up to the Super Bowl. He is co-author of an article in deadspin.com titled that was cited in a Chronicle of Higher Education blog post titled and led to two stories in the regional press: “Statistics appear to be in Patriots’ favor,” Jan. 29 in the Albany Times Union; and “At the intersection of stats and sports—Skidmore prof often pops up in sports pages,” Feb. 1, The Daily Gazette.
