Skidmore Spotlight: Jennifer Schmid-Fareed
Jennifer Schmid-Fareed works as the Skidmore Mindfulness program coordinator and the
administrative assistant for MDOCS.
As organizer of the Mindfulness program, she leads guided meditation groups twice
a week and teaches yoga classes on Saturdays and Sundays. The free programs are geared
toward students but are also open to faculty and staff.
“In addition, I really enjoy creating larger events around Sound Healing,” Schmid-Fareed
says. “It’s a great way for students to turn inward and relax.”
As the administrative assistant for MDOCS, “I mainly do whatever I can to support
the incredible faculty and staff running the program,” she says. “It’s truly an absolute
pleasure.”
Schmid-Fareed joined Skidmore in November 2016 after managing a yoga retreat for more
than 10 years. She joined MDOCS in January.
She enjoys hiking through North Woods and loves the College’s collaborative environment.
“My favorite thing about Skidmore is that I learn as much from the students as I do
from my colleagues,” she says.
When not on campus, Schmid-Fareed likes to practice yoga, draw and paint.
