Skidmore Spotlight: Karen McAuley
Karen McAuley works as acquisitions assistant in Scribner Library’s Bibliographic Services Department and is responsible for all
administrative duties, including ordering and processing materials for the library
collection and maintaining journal subscriptions.
McAuley joined Skidmore in 2006 after gaining 19 years of experience at Clifton Park-Halfmoon
Library. “I love working in libraries,” she said. “Additionally, I was excited about
the health and tuition assistance benefits that Skidmore offered.”
She enjoys the welcoming and warm community she has experienced at Skidmore. “My co-workers
are the best part of my job,” McAuley said. “Truly, they make every day enjoyable,
even when things get a bit hairy.”
McAuley also appreciates Skidmore’s Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. “I have yet to find
a college that can compare to our dining hall,” she said.
When not on campus, she can usually be found at the ice rink. She likes spending time
with her family and friends, girls’ nights out, reading books and watching science-fiction
movies and shows.
