Skidmore Spotlight: Kayleigh Winne

April 7, 2021

Kayleigh Winne, environmental service technician and trainer/facilitator in Facilities Services, is part of Skidmore’s COVID-19 cleaning team

Winne works to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by cleaning and disinfecting residential rooms, public areas, and isolation and quarantine spaces on campus. She also helps train custodial workers about sanitation protocols and ensures they have all the necessary supplies to clean areas on campus properly

Since the pandemic, the cleaning process has become more vigorous. There’s a lot of attention to detail, especially in isolation and quarantine spaces,” said Winne, who wears special personal protective equipment on the job. “We need to be extremely diligent and ensure that we strictly follow all protocols.”

Winne, who joined the College in 2018, said she appreciates the “awesome Skidmore work environment."

Everyone always steps up. There’s good communications among members of our team,” she said. “It’s nice that we can count on each other and other departments throughout campus to ensure that the work gets taken care of safely. ’s&Բ;really great teamwork.”

When she is not at Skidmore, she enjoys hiking in the woods with her dog and gardening. She has begun preparing her garden to grow cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, green beans and other vegetables this summer.  I look forward to getting outside and to more gardening! she said.
