Skidmore Spotlight: Mike Davis
Mike Davis, card system administrator in the Office of Information Technology, maintains Skidmore’s card system and equipment, including servers, cash registers, door access electronic panels and access rights to buildings.
“Basically, if it involves the Skidmore Card, I’m involved somehow,” said Davis, who joined Skidmore in 2006 and held several previous positions at the College before moving to this role. “In this position, I interact with many different departments on campus but do most of my collaboration with our fantastic Facilities and Dining Services departments.”
During the pandemic, Davis has worked to limit touch contact with machines to the extent possible and has implemented revised access plans to buildings to support contact tracing.
Davis especially appreciates the atmosphere on campus, the community’s diversity and the opportunity to interact with students.
“It’s been a great place to work and grow! I have helped the Skidmore Anime Club for
many years, as Japanese animation is also something I enjoy. It has afforded me many
opportunities to interact with our wonderful student body.”
When not on campus, Davis also enjoys collecting and maintaining vintage Toyota Corollas
and working on vintage arcade machines, older video game equipment and vintage computers.
“I have over 500 computers at home, ranging from Apple IIs to Commodore 64s to current gaming computers with VR,” Davis said.
