Faculty-Staff Achievements
Nurcan Atalan-Helicke, associate professor and director of the Environmental Studies and Sciences Program,
and A.J. Schneller, assistant professor of environmental studies and sciences, published a book chapter
with alumni Clarivel Gonzalez ’16, Carolyn Lois ’16 and Helen Mebrate ’16. Their chapter,
“Seed Libraries in the United States: Regulations, Seed Saving, Seed Sharing, and
Seed Sovereignty,” appeared in the volume “,” published by Lexington Books.
Emmanuel Balogun, assistant professor of political science, published “” in the journal Africa Spectrum.
Jason Breves, associate professor and chair of the Department of Biology, Nasatasia Nelson '20, Victor Koltenyuk '20, and collaborators at the University of Hawaii co-authored an article, “” in the journal Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology – Part A.
Rebecca McNamara, associate curator at the Tang Teaching Museum, published “Embracing Contradictions,” a book review of “In Flux: American Jewelry and the Counterculture” by Susan Cummins, Damian Skinner and Cindi Strauss, for Metalsmith magazine.
Kelly Melekis, associate professor of social work, published "' in OMEGA - Journal of Death and Dying. The article was co-authored by the New York
Six Liberal Arts Consortium colleague Carol S. Weisse, director of health professions
and professor of psychology at Union College and recent Skidmore graduate, Emma Phillips
'21.
