Skidmore Spotlight: Brian Burns
Brian Burns, who works as a post office clerk, processes incoming and outgoing mail for the College.
He handles mail received at the post office’s customer service window, helps to distribute and pick up mail to and from departments, and processes packages received from delivery services, including UPS, FedEx, and Amazon Prime.
Burns started his Skidmore career in Dining Services, serving in several roles from 1983 to 2006, when he started his current position.
“During the pandemic, my job mainly stayed the same — just at a slower pace due to fewer students being on campus,” he said. “I'm excited about the fall semester and seeing all the students back on campus and a return to normalcy.”
Burns said he appreciates Skidmore as “an open-minded and inclusive intuition.”
“I enjoy getting to know our diverse student body and faculty and learning about their backgrounds and cultures,” he said.
When not on campus, he enjoys spending time with family, cooking, trying new dishes, traveling, reading, and “hopefully watching the Red Sox win!”
