Skidmore Retirees

Gloria R. Gardiner

Gloria R. Gardiner, who retired from Skidmore in 1999, died peacefully on January 24, 2019. She was 79.

As secretary in the Office of the Registrar from 1984 to 1999, Gloria was the “sunny personality” who greeted students, colleagues recalled.

“Gloria was a mainstay at the front desk. She loved assisting students and was always willing to do little extra things to be sure they had a good experience. She was patient, caring, and helpful,” said Ann Henderson, who served as Skidmore’s registrar.

Survivors include her sons, Kurt R. Gardiner ’89 of Hoboken, New Jersey, and Erik (Marie) Gardiner of Brookline, Massachusetts; sister Carol (William) Foster of Germantown, New York; brother Bruce (Roslyn) Christie of Albany; and sister-in-law Gail Gardiner (Judith Sigler) of Tucson, Arizona. Gloria’s husband, Richard Gardiner, died in 2014.
