Skidmore Retirees

Steven Rosenbach

Steven Rosenbach, who served the Department of Campus Safety for more than two decades, died at home on Feb. 24, 2021.  He was 65.

Steve served as a campus safety officer from 1986 until his retirement in 2010.  Colleagues described him as a witty, kind and dependable co-worker, who loved reading, animals and motorcycles.

ā€œSteveā€™s wonderful sense of humor gave him a great rapport with students,ā€ said Missy Simpson, who worked with him for 15 years in Campus Safety. ā€œHe was always reliable, had a great big heart and was just a kind-hearted soul. He deeply valued the lasting friendships that he made while working at Skidmore.ā€

The son of the late Jean and Arthur Rosenbach, he was born July 23, 1955. He grew up in Saratoga Springs and served for two years in the Army.

While working in a motorcycle shop, he met his future wife, Jill Sweet, professor emerita of anthropology, whom he married on campus. Steve is survived by Jill and his brother, Ric Rosenbach.
