A Department of Art Modern Bestiary
May 3 – June 4, 2017
Opening Wednesday, May 3rd, 3 – 4:30 p.m., with an Academic Festival talk by participating students
A juried show of student works on the theme of the bestiary, an illustrated treatise
on real or mythical animals, often with a moralizing tone, that became common in Medieval
times. This project was shared by ten studio art classes during the Spring '17 semester.
The resulting exhibition features works by students of all levels, art majors and
non-art-majors alike, in Ceramics, Communication Design, Drawing, Painting, Photography,
Printmaking, Painting, and Metals.
(Special gallery hours apply during this show. Starting the week of May 8th, the gallery
will be open Weds – Saturday, 12 – 4. Closed Saturday May 27 for Memorial Day weekend.)
