Meet the Mathematics and Statistics PAC
Sarah Chambers '25 - PAC Captain
Major: Mathematics
About Me: I am from Coudersport, Pennsylvania and play on the women's basketball team here at Skidmore. I love the outdoors, sports, and hanging out with my friends! I also love math and am super excited to join PAC!
Why PAC? PAC has been super helpful to me throughout my math courses and I love having the chance of being able to help others!
Favorite Class: My favorite class at Skidmore has been Introduction to Mathematical Proofs. I loved the concepts that we learned in the class and learning how to use LaTeX was a great experience.
Academic Advice: My advice is to manage your time wisely and take advantage of free time that you have.
Lion Brauer '27
Major: Mathematics
About Me: I am from Brooklyn, New York. I enjoy thrifting, working out, playing poker, pool, and hanging out with friends. I also enjoy meeting new people and making more connections.
Why PAC? I enjoy helping others improve and it can help me understand new perspectives. I also enjoy math, so teaching it to others would be fun.
Favorite class: MA-213 Calculus IV. I enjoyed applying the concepts we learned previously into 3 dimensions and how to understand it.
Academic Advice: Get enough sleep and make sure you manage your time wisely. Don’t forgo sleep to study, move things around so you have time for both.
Jordan Diamond '27
Major: Neuroscience Minor: Mathematics, Human Anatomy and Physiology
About me: I am from Boulder, Colorado. Other than my love for jiu jitsu, ballroom, and latin dancing, I enjoy spending time in Skidmore’s microscopy imaging center using the scanning electron microscope. I am also a nationally registered EMT and am on the pre-med track.
Why PAC?: PAC has been a wonderful resource for all of my classes by giving me more one-on-one time and allowing me to ask any other questions that I had from the week’s lessons. I really want to help others do the same with one of my favorite subjects!
Favorite Class: Calculus II, Neuroscience 101
Academic Advice: Utilize office hours and keep an open line of communication with your professor! I also recommend creating a study group with friends in the class, as it will help with motivation to study.

Majors: Mathematics & Biology
About Me: I'm from Metuchen, a small town in New Jersey. I love to play and watch sports like Basketball and Ping Pong. I like movies and sitcoms, but my favorite show is Survivor. I'm excited to be joining PAC this semester.
Why PAC? I love math and especially teaching others. I was a camp counselor over the summer, and I also helped tutor at my local library so I think I can continue to share what I know through PAC.
Favorite Class: Linear Algebra, Calculus 3, Mesoamerican Archaeology
Academic Advice: Use a deep analysis and creativity to make your own version of what you learn and then teach that version to someone else. That's a great way to make something stick.
Ethan Heidepriem '25
Majors: Computer Science & Mathematics
About Me: I am from Findlay, Ohio and play on the Men's Ice Hockey Team. I love working out and golf. I love to work with teams and complete a common goal.
Why PAC? I have been very fortunate to have mentors and teachers provide guidance for me at Skidmore. The opportunity to provide assistance to others excites me.
Favorite Class: CS- Data Structures. MA- Calc II. OTHER- Intro to Acting.
Academic Advice: Commit to the first step. You can't write a book without writing the first word. You can't get up the flight of stairs without going up the first step. It looks scary from the bottom but just manage the next step.

Major: Math
About me: I am a junior from Brookline, Massachusetts. I love photography, being in nature, hiking, exploring new places, and being around friends. I recently transferred to Skidmore, from the University of New Hampshire.
Why PAC? At UNH, their version of PAC was very helpful to me as a student, then I worked there as a tutor and enjoyed helping students, so I'd like to continue that help here at Skidmore.
Favorite Classes: My favorite classes so far have been Calc III and Linear Algebra.
Academic Advice: Make sure to manage your time well and spread out when you do your work, so you don't overwork yourself. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help, from your professors, classmates, friends, or peer tutors. People will be happy to help!
Adam Serota '25
Major: Mathematics Minor: Business
About me: I am a junior from Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. I enjoy being outside and hiking and playing tennis. I really enjoy math and am very excited to be a PAC.
Why PAC? I wanted to be a PAC as it has always been very helpful to me and I wanted to help out others. I also just enjoy doing math.
Favorite Class: My favorite class was MA 215: Introduction to Proof. I just thought it was really interesting and really loved the abstract nature of the proof problems and that there were many different approaches to solving them.
Academic Advice: Take breaks and don't try to do too much. Trying to cram everything in and work all day I found has not been a very good or efficient use of my time. Taking breaks and understanding when I just can't focus on my work has really helped me do my work when I can put the most effort into it. Also, asking for help. Sometimes it is just hard to solve something yourself so go to PAC or office hours or ask a friend.

Major: Neuroscience
About Me: I'm a sophomore from Shanghai, China. I enjoy playing badminton and knitting with friends. In the future, I aspire to pursue a career in either the healthcare profession or engineering.
Why PAC? PAC has been incredibly helpful to me throughout my math courses. I’ve gained so much from it, and now I’m excited to give back by helping others tackle their math challenges.
Favorite Class: My favorite math class at Skidmore so far is MA 211. Exploring space and vector calculus has been fascinating—it’s made me curious about what higher dimensions might look like and how they work. Except for math, I also recommend NS101!
Academic Advice: Mistakes are a natural part of learning. Take the time to review where you went wrong in homework or tests—it’s one of the best ways to avoid making the same errors in the future.
